Application form

The application form below was for the 2017 competition. The application form for the 2018 competition will be published in due course.
Before completing the application form, please read the rules, and in particular observe the following conditions of entry:
1. Applicants must be available for the dates of the Competition
2. Applicants may request a change of allocated Preliminary Round time for serious and unavoidable reasons and only via the Music Manager.
3. Applicants must perform the exact programmes of music listed for each round and within the given time limits, but they may change no more than one piece in each programme before the programme deadline (16:00 on 31st March) and only via the Music Manager.
4. Applicants must provide a score of music (i.e. including accompaniment) for every piece to be performed.Please note that the closing date for applications is 4.00 p.m. Sunday 26 February 2017.

2. A detailed CV/resumé of your musical career under the following headings:
– Education, qualifications and prizes
– Solo experience
– Orchestral experience
– Other experience
3. A formal reference from your instrumental teacher confirming your musical standard & experience necessary for the competition (if necessary your teacher can send this direct to with subject line "Musical Standard Reference").
4. Proof of age – photo or scan of passport, ID card or driving licence

About your music

Please provide a programme of music for each round of the competition.
You may repeat as many pieces as you wish from one round to the next, or none at all.
A maximum of one piece per round may be changed by 31 March 2017 at 4.00 pm.

About the competition

If you wish to apply for the Sir John Manduell Prize, state which piece (maximum 7 minutes) you will be playing from your Preliminary Round programme for this (must have been composed, not arranged, after 1950).

Please read before submitting

There is an entry fee of £50 and an entry fee of £20 for accompanists entering for the prize. Transfers may be made to the bank using Sort Code 30-63-94 and Account 30002260. Please use your name as the reference. If internet transfers present a problem, please contact us (see Contact Us page). The entry fee will be refunded if your entry is not accepted, but once you have been notified of acceptance it will be non-refundable.
